Mushers from across Europe met in Slovakia to compete at a championship sled dog race last week.
The race took place on February 8-9 and started and finished in the Muzeum Oravskej Dediny, a village made up entirely of traditional-style properties from the mountain regions of Slovakia.
The trail was 8km long and teams took part from one dog skijoring (in which a person on skis is pulled by a horse, a dog or a motor vehicle) to eight-dog teams of huskies.
The weather conditions were perfect, with fresh snow falling just before the event and cold temperatures for fast trails during the race.
Britain’s Matt Hodgson took top honours in the two-dog category.
Hodgson, from East Sussex, started racing huskies in 2005 and won the British Championships in 2014. He started competing internationally in 2017.
