A deformed tree amazed locals who believe it has been manifested with a spirit.
Deputy Municipal Mayor of Bang Sao Shong district Anan Tangnainnatchai was surprised when he noticed how the Naga coconut palm had grown at his yard in Samut Prakan, central Thailand, last Wednesday (January 29).
The small tree's bizarre shape was assumed to be caused by a "Naga spirit," a semi-divine race of half-human half-serpent beings that reside in the netherworld.
Residents visited Anan's house to see the strange foliage while some of them were asking it to bring them lucky lottery members.
Anan, the owner of the strange coconut tree, said: "There was someone who wanted to buy the palm, but I rejected him. I want to grow and cherish this holy plant myself."
