Ancestry.com Signals DNA Testing 'Fad' Is Dying Out

2020-02-06 368

Genealogy giant Ancestry is laying off about 6% of its 1,700-person workforce.
The company justified the move by citing a slowdown in the genetic testing market.
According to Business Insider, sales of genetics tests overall have slowed.
In fact, Wall Street has signalled that the consumer genetics "fad" is over.
The news comes just weeks after 23andMe also announced plans to lay off 100 employees, citing the same pressures.
