Ekadashi of Magh month, the month of bathing and charity and virtuous effect is called Jaya Ekadashi. On this day, the festival of devotee Pundarik is celebrated in Pandharpur (Maharashtra). Due to the virtue of Jaya Ekadashi, a man is freed from all sins and receives victory in every sphere of life and is entitled to salvation. The Bhagavata Purana states that those who want to attain all physical and worldly happiness, they must observe Jaya Ekadashi fast.The story of this Ekadashi, to fulfill all the wishes, is described in many ancient legends including 'Padmapuran'.
स्नान-दान और पुण्य प्रभाव के माह माघ मास की शुक्लपक्ष एकादशी को जया एकादशी कहा गया है। इसी दिन भक्त पुण्डरीक का उत्सव पंढरपुर (महाराष्ट्र) में मनाया जाता है। जया एकादशी के पुण्य के कारण मनुष्य सभी पापों से मुक्त होकर जीवन के हरेक क्षेत्र में विजयश्री प्राप्त करता है और मोक्ष का अधिकारी हो जाता है। भागवत पुराण में आया है कि जो मनुष्य समस्त भौतिक तथा सांसारिक सुख प्राप्त करना चाहते हैं, उन्हें जया एकादशी व्रत अवश्य करना चाहिए। सभी कामनाओं की पूर्ति के लिए की जाने वाली इस एकादशी की कथा का वर्णन ‘पद्मपुराण’ सहित कई प्राचीन आख्यानों में है।
