Residents in landslide risk areas in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, say that they did not knew about the danger of building in those zones. In the Jardim Alvorada neighborhood some insist on staying in their homes and others, like Liliane Rodrigues, who lost her house, were welcomed into shelters like Pousada Piaui, where more than 100 evacuees remain. The floods have left at least 47 dead and about 14,000 people had to leave their homes across Minas Gerais state.
