This is the heartwarming moment a group of teenagers try to raise money for families displaced by the Taal volcano eruption in the Philippines.

Pupils in the entire province of Batangas have not yet resumed classes due to the severe ash fall in some of the towns.

The students used their time off to help with the relief operations by performing outside a mall in Laguna on January 16.

Onlooker Rolan Atienza said he is proud of the children.

He said: ''They may be young, but they already have generous hearts."

The Taal volcano erupted on Sunday (January 12), spewing hot ash in the air which was carried as far as 100km away in Manila. More than 40,000 people have fled or been evacuated but workers are still working to save many of the animals left on the popular tourist island.

Thousands of people are now staying at evacuation centers around Batangas.
