A tree snake and a tokay gecko had an epic struggling while hanging from a branch - with the lizard eventually managing to escape.
The pair of warring reptiles were seen on a tree while dozens of cowboy fans were attending a country and western convention in Saraburi, central Thailand on Wednesday (January 15) morning.
Their attention was distracted when they noticed the golden tree snake hanging down from a branch while strangling the gecko.
Footage shows the tree snake swallowing the entire head of the lizard, while dozens of stinging ants added to the lizard's suffering when they converged on its body.
With the gekco's prospects appearing bleak, suddenly the snake's grip loosened and they both dropped to the ground.
The startled snake slithered away while the gecko was lying still a moment before it scampered to safety.
One bystander said the gecko was lucky to survive after obviously losing the fight.
He said: "I thought the gecko was finished as the snake already had the gecko's head in its mouth, but somehow they fell down and the tree snake just slithered away."
