Locals were amazed by this three-legged frog which was found swimming in a garden pond.

Pensioner Wichai Saengnoi, 69, was having his fence fixed when the workers noticed the amphibian in Roi-Et, north-eastern Thailand last Thursday (January 9).

They told the homeowner, who then captured the frog to move it out of his garden when he noticed its fascinating mutation.

Footage shows how the frog has a third leg protruding from its hips like a long tail.

The extra limb even has a webbed foot and moves just like the other two, giving the frog extra power when swimming through the water.

Wichai said he will keep the ''lucky frog'' at home to make offerings to it before releasing it back into the pond.

He said that frog has a ''calm temperament'' unlike some of the other frogs in his pond.

The pensioner added said: "I'm not an expert in science, but I know that frogs normally only have two legs.

"This frog has another leg growing from where the tail would have been when it was tadpole. But this is definitely a leg, because it moves and has a foot, too.

"This frog is more friendly than a normal frog so I will take care of it for a while before I will release it to the nature.I hope it brings me good luck.''
