Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that there is evidence that a Ukrainian airliner that crashed in Iran on January 8, 2020 was brought down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile. Addressing the media on January 9, 2020, Trudeau cited “intelligence from multiple sources” including Canada and its allies. All 176 people on board the flight, including 63 Canadians, died when the plane went down soon after it left Tehran bound for Kiev.
