Jony J is one of China’s hottest rappers. Fans call him the “hip-hop poet” for his socially-conscious music and down-to-earth lyrics.
In China, he’s the first rapper to perform to stadium-size crowds, a popularity unseen by other hip-hop artists in the country. His onstage proposal to his longtime girlfriend in June became a trending topic on Weibo, China’s Twitter.
Yet he remains largely unknown outside of China.
