Rescuers in the northwest Indian state of Rajasthan saved a five-year-old boy, almost eight hours after he fell inside an open borewell.
The incident, which took place on December 5 in Sirohi district's Siba village, after the boy slid into the 15-foot borewell while playing, prompting the rescue.
The rescue team were filmed digging the child out using earthmovers, that were brought in four hours after the child was found. The boy was also supplied with ample oxygen using cylinders to help him breathe.
Once they dug up enough and reached near the boy, rescuers carefully pulled him out and wrapped him in a white towel, to relieved cheers from the waiting crowd of onlookers.
The boy was later taken to a hospital where doctors ran some tests.
Police officials stated that the child was heard crying for help when the incident came to light.
Sub-divisional officials along with the team of doctors were present at the site during the marathon operation, which took four hours.
