It’s ‘double 11’ today, also known as the Single’s Day in China. In recent years, this day quickly develops to mean something else, the annual online shopping festival for those who are still single to seek solace in ‘retail therapy’. Now the craze is also gaining popularity among Malaysians.
Known for its crazy promotion, the Singles' Day annual shopping festival was started by international e-commerce giant Alibaba. It has caught on in a big way in Malaysia, particularly via Alibaba's regional e-commerce subsidiary Lazada.
In 2018, Lazada broke its previous year's sales record for the shopping spree in just nine hours and this year should prove even more successful.
