UPS and CVS Deliver Prescription
Meds by Drone for the First Time According to UPS Flight Forward,
this was the first-ever prescription
delivery by drone in the U.S. The delivery occurred on
Nov. 1 from a CVS pharmacy
to a residence and finally to a
retirement community in North Carolina. While the drone's flight
was autonomous, it was
overseen by a remote operator. The drone hovered 20 feet over
the delivery address and then
lowered the package by a cable cord. Drone deliveries have not yet
become pervasive due to FAA regulations. In addition to UPS Flight Forward,
Google launched a drone delivery
service called Wing in October.
