U.S House Democrats on Thursday approved a resolution to formalize the procedures of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
The vote - the first full House chamber vote on the matter - came to 232 to 196, largely on party lines.
The resolution lays out details on how the House will move forward with the impeachment inquiry looking into whether Trump abused his power to pressure Ukraine to smear his political rivals.
The passed rules include switching closed-door interview with witnesses to public hearings and ultimately possible votes on whether to recommend President Trump's removal from office.
