New Google Maps Feature
Alerts Users to 'Speed Traps'.
As a whole, the Google Maps
feature lets you pin locations
where traffic has slowed down.
These can include spots where there
is construction, lane closures
or disabled vehicles.
It also lets drivers
pin "speed traps.".
"Speed traps" are areas where
police cars hide to catch
drivers who are speeding.
The option comes from the Google-owned navigation app, Waze.
The new app option
is not popular with police.
In a letter earlier this year, the
NYPD issued a complaint to
Google about the feature.
We demand that Google LLC, upon receipt of this letter, immediately remove this function from the Waze application, NYPD, via letter.
The department recently told 'The Washington Post'
that they are in "productive talks" with the tech giant
