A driver in England's West Midlands was struck by a truck that rear-ended him in this shocking dashcam footage.

The incident took place on the northbound A5 towards Tamworth in Staffordshire on October 21, and shows the lorry failing to brake in time when the driver slowed for traffic, and slamming into the rear of his white Ford.

The owner of the dashcam vehicle, a man from Wolverhampton who was on his way to work in Tamworth, said: "There is damage to rear of my car, all is smashed and rear window has shattered, as well as possible engine damage due to the impact. I received injury to my lower back due to force.

"[The truck driver] just got out the cab and we moved the vehicles to the side of road. As he was foreign there was a language barrier, but we were able to swap details until the police arrived with a translator," he added.

"He appeared to mention about the automatic braking in the lorry, but it was difficult to understand due to the language barrier.

"There had been another accident further up so there was tailback in both lanes – which I was stationary at the time of the crash.

"The police were called who blocked the one lane off. They helped us swap further details through use of translator."
