And staying with the topic South Korea has solidified its resolve to take the lead in its WTO dispute with Japan.
During a meeting Wednesday where representatives from the government, the top office and the ruling party discussed countermeasures to Japan's trade restrictions on South Korea,... the three sides agreed to continue efforts to boost the nation's competitiveness.
They also agreed that, despite some success made by Korean firms to overcome the trade curbs, government efforts are still required.
South Korea argues Japan violated international trade rules including Article 11 of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, in retaliation over a ruling by South Korea's top court last year that ordered certain Japanese firms to pay compensation to the Korean victims of Japan's forced labor during its colonial rule.
