A bike-borne customer ignored warning to not to use cell phone and sparked off fire at a petrol pump in southern India.
CCTV filmed a man on his motorcycle with several other bikers at a station on October 20, holding a phone in his right hand and trying to message, as a station employee poured fuel just before fire engulfed the bike.
As other customers fled, the station staff fought frantically to put out the fire successfully. The customer took his partially burnt bike with the help of a friend and went away.
Eyewitnesses said a signboard warned customers against using cell phones in the vicinity of the station owned by Indian Oil in Sattenapalle near Guntur.
Pump employees also routinely caution customers from using their phones, but the customer in a red sarong ignored both.
