The Palme d'Or-winning black comedy 'Parasite' is pulling in impressive audiences across the United States,... screening in more than 30 theaters in big cities like New York, LA and San Francisco.
Since it was first released there on October 11th, South Korean director Bong Joon-ho's film has racked up box office takings of more than 1-point-8 million U.S. dollars.
However, what's more interesting is how much the movie has made per screen, given its limited release.
Pulling in an average of 128-thousand dollars, it's the best per-screen haul in the U.S. since "La La Land" in 2016, and the highest for any international film opening in the U.S.
'Parasite' has been nominated by South Korea's film council for consideration in the Best International Feature Film category at next year's Academy Awards.
