From Dior to Chanel: the best of Paris Fashion Week spring/summer 2020
The best shows included Chanel’s rooftop show, Dior’s green garden and Hermès’ equestrian leather collection, but denim was the star of the week.
Despite the gloomy weather (it rained most days) and solemn atmosphere (the death of former French president Jacques Chirac), Paris Fashion Week offered some fantastic collections and amazing shows, ranging from Chanel’s Paris rooftop show and Dior’s green garden featuring 170 trees, to Hermès’ top-notch equestrian leather collection presented at Tennis Club de Paris.
Denim is back as a highlight of this season. Hedi Silmane’s junior collection for Celine women’s line continued the designer’s ’70s boho narrative featuring jeans and abstract prints.
Givenchy’s show invitation was clad in denim, and creative director Claire Waight Keller closed the show in a simplistic outfit made from – you got it – denim.
Elsewhere, Chinese designer Anaïs Mak of Anaïs Jourden staged a romantic collection, with models sporting customised Nike Air Force 1 trainers.
On the last day, Jarel Zhang orchestrated a vibrant street culture-influenced show at a club by the Seine. Watch the video to find out more about the season’s best collections.
