China has banned the American animated satire sitcom South Park after its latest episode mocked Beijing’s censorship, The Hollywood Reporter reported on October 7, 2019.  South Park season 23, episode 2, “Band in China”, made reference to China’s crackdown on Winnie the Pooh imagery and Hollywood’s reliance on the Chinese theatrical market. Creators of the Comedy Central sitcom Trey Parker and Matt Stone issued a mocking apology on the South Park Twitter account following the reported ban.
