Britain, France and Germany have requested a closed-door meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss North Korea's recent test firing of a submarine-launched ballistic missile.
Thursday's request was made after North Korea announced the successful launch of what it said was a new type of SLBM.
The three sides asked for the meeting to take place on Friday, local time.
UN Security Council resolutions ban the North from testing ballistic missile technology.
The North's missile test came despite the UN's tough economic sanctions on the regime.
