Sysco Corporation is to build a huge distribution center in Starke County, Indiana, bringing with it hundreds of jobs.
The deal took several years to put together. The county's Development Foundation said roads and rail were a big draw for Sysco, a food service company.
Officials say up to 500 jobs could be created in the county of 24,000.
Sysco will construct the facility sometime after 2011 on land near US 35 and County Road 500.
Almost half of the project is being funded by an Economic Development grant. Another $725,000 is funded by an Industrial Development Fund. Bonds and tax money will cover the balance.
Sysco Corporation is the largest foodservice distributor in North America, and services over 400,000 customers, including restaurants, hospitals and nursing homes, schools and colleges, hotels and motels, and industrial caterers, as well as regional and national chain restaurants.
