In the middle of a heavy drizzle there was an accident on Route 7 at the height of San Andres de Giles. The frontal crash occurred between a Fiat Siena car in which 5 people from General Villegas and a Ford van with 4 people domiciled in Mercedes were traveling. As a result of the impact, the 5 occupants of the Fiat, Antonio Farias, Alberto Rubio and the 3 daughters of the latter, aged 21, 19 and 15, died on the spot. Two of the Pick Up occupants, Hector Ciri and Manuel Costa, also died, while the two remaining women continue to be admitted to the Zarate hospital.
