Just a week after a peace agreement with the Taliban was declared "dead," two suicide bombings rocked Afghanistan on Tuesday, killing at least 48 people.
The first attack left 26 dead...as a bomber rammed his explosive-packed motorcycle into a campaign rally being held by President Ashraf Ghani in Parwan province.
The president was nearby at the time of the blast, but was unharmed.
On the same day, another attack near the U.S. embassy in Kabul killed 22.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for both attacks...after vowing to disrupt national elections set for September 28th.
A spokesman for the Taliban said the first attack targeted presidential guards who were protecting Ghani.
