IOC to decide 'case-by-case' on display of Rising Sun flag at Tokyo Olympics

The International Olympic Committee still hasn't decided whether it'll allow Japanese fans to fly the so-called Rising Sun flag at next year's Games in Tokyo.
It's a symbol of imperialism deeply offensive to people throughout Asia.
The IOC was asked about the issue Thursday by Japanese broadcaster NHK, and said it will decide what to at the Games on a case-by-case basis.
The IOC had received a letter a day earlier from South Korea asking that the flag be banned.
It reportedly did say, though, that the Olympic stadiums should be free of political statements.
South Korea compares the flag to Nazi Germany's swastika, but the Tokyo Organizing Committee says there is no reason to ban it.
