Japanese media have reported that the Abe administration has decided not to accept South Korea's proposal that Seoul could reconsider terminating the intel-sharing pact with Japan if Tokyo withdraws its trade restrictions.
Citing several government officials, Kyodo news agency reported Saturday that the administration won't reverse its decision to remove South Korea from its list of trusted trading partners, claiming that trade and security issues should not be bargained.
The latest report reaffirms Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga's remarks last week where he stressed that the intel-sharing pact and trade regulations are two different things.
