World No. 1 Rafael Nadal won a record-extending ninth French Open title after beating Serbian second-seed Novak Djokovic in the finals. Djokovic, who was looking to become the eighth man to complete a career grand slam, made a great start, but appeared to suffer from the heat and humidity after losing the second set. With the win, the Spaniard became the first man to win five successive titles at Roland Garros, and took his overall Grand Slam tally to 14. His record in French Open finals stands at a sterling 9-0, and has so far won a record 35 success matches at the claycourt major. -- Mornings @ ANC, June 9, 2014.
