MANILA, Philippines – Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao has filed a resolution seeking to honor Filipino figure skater Michael Christian Martinez. Pacquiao said Martinez made the nation proud by being the first figure skater from the Philippines – and Southeast Asia – to qualify for the Winter Olympics. Martinez gained global attention when he competed in the figure skating event in Sochi, winding up in 19th place in his Olympic debut.
