MANILA -- An Isuzu Elf truck and at least four stores were razed by fire after a burning Fermina Express bus, which was left by the driver and conductor, suddenly backed up and hit the vehicle and the establishments along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City Thursday night. According to residents who witnessed the incident, the bus plying the Lagro-NAIA via Fairview route was already burning when it was abandoned by its driver and conductor past 10 p.m. The burning bus then backed up, hitting the truck and at least four stores along the road, including a factory of calendars. Fire marshal Supt. Jesus Fernandez said the blaze quickly spread in the area since the materials inside the calendar factory were highly combustible. Ryan Ganias, owner of the factory, estimated the cost of damage caused by the blaze at around P1 million. Ganias said he will file a case against Fermina Express and demand that the company pay for the damage caused by the incident. Meanwhile, authorities have yet to find the driver and conductor of the Fermina bus. -- Report from Kori Quintos, ABS-CBN News
