PH places 7th in Myanmar SEA Games

MANILA, Philippines – With the same pyrotechnic flair that marked the opening, the 27th Southeast Asian Games came to a close on Sunday in Naypyitaw, Myanmar. The biennial SEA Games is the largest sporting event in the region, attended by thousands of athletes from 11 nations. The Philippines finished at seventh place, with a total of 29 golds, 34 silvers and 38 bronze medals. Thailand finished on top of the medals table, winning a total of 282 medals, including 107 golds. Meanwhile, Myanmar benefited from its home advantage, finishing second with 86 gold medals from a total haul of 233, the most the nation has ever won at a SEA Games. =--- Mornings @ ANC, December 23, 2013.
