MANILA - Among the thousands of typhoon survivors that arrived in Manila are children who have been orphaned or abandoned. Some of them have been brought to the Department of Social Welfare and Development's reception and study center for children in Quezon City. The DSWD said those children who are confirmed to have no more relatives will be placed under emergency foster care. "We exhaust all possible means na mahanap ang relatives, otherwise we look for alternative family care," said Ma. Alicia Bonoan, DSWD-NCR regional director. Gwen Pimentel, president of the Association of Child Caring Agencies of the Philippines, said: "Mas maganda kasi ang may pamilya kasi yung physical care mas direct. Yung himas, akap, tutok ang pangangailangan." ANC Dateline Philippines, November 20, 2013
