MANILA -- Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesperson James Jimenez denies politics is behind the poll body's decision to disqualify Laguna Governor ER Ejercito for overspending in the May polls. In an interview on "Headstart," Jimenez said the Comelec is merely enforcing a rule which punishes overspenders. He added the complaint against Ejercito was filed by his opponent even before the May elections. The poll body has given Ejercito five days to file a motion for reconsideration. Jimenez also said the Comelec is looking at the campaign spending of other elected officials, even those who belong to the administration party. Mornings @ ANC, September 27, 2013
