MANILA – President Aquino personally went to Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame Wednesday night to check on the camp security even before the arrival of businesswoman and alleged pork scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles. Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said that after Napoles' surrender to Aquino in Malacañang, the President turned to other officials and said: "Tutal puyat na tayo, damay damay na." He said Aquino then went to Camp Crame. Asked if the President's action hinted at special treatment for Mrs. Napoles, he said: "The President has said the presence of Mrs. Napoles adds to finding out the truth. Yan po ang mahalaga. The President views this matter very seriously and he wanted and made sure she is turned over to the courts." He said that even before the surrender, Napoles' lawyer Lorna Kapunan had said her client was willing to surrender only to the President because she is the only person that she can trust. He said that during the surrender, Napoles asked President Aquino for security. Napoles has been accused of setting up fake non-government organizations to pocket pork barrel funds from certain lawmakers, who in turn allegedly got huge cuts from the deal with the businesswoman.
