Please embed video -- ANC 2:04pm MANILA - Thousands turned up at barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) registrations in Metro Manila Wednesday, causing confusion and chaos. Early this morning, there were no clear queues, and people pushed and shoved each other. Many complained that others were breaking the line. In one incident, a stampede occurred at a Commission on Elections (Comelec) office, injuring several people. By midday, a system was put in place, allowing only women to register. In Caloocan City, the voter registration was also chaotic. Scores of people were trying to force their way into the Comelec office, hoping to beat the 5 p.m. deadline. The Comelec officer in the area had announced only 200 people will be accommodated plus the 300 who decided to camp out last night. In Quezon City, around 3,000 people have lined up to register. Many even spent the night outside the city hall. Registrants were complaining that pregnant women and senior citizens were not being given special treatment as they expected. Poll officials, meanwhile, said technical glitches are slowing down the application process. -- ANC
