Report Says President Trump Wanted to Stop Hurricanes
With Nukes.
According to Axios, Trump has made
the suggestion multiple times during
talks with U.S. security officials.
They start forming off the coast of Africa, as they're moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it. Why can't we do that?, President Trump, via Axios.
Axios goes on to report that in one such occasion, officials said to the president that they would
"look into that.".
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says is it not guaranteed that nuclear bombs would stop a hurricane.
The agency adds that chemicals released by
the bomb could be picked up by heavy winds
and then spread into land, leading
to damaging consequences.
The NOAA's research on the matter can be found in the online paper, 'Tropical Cyclone Myths Page.'.
Trump has since denied making
the comment in a recent tweet.
The story by Axios that President Trump wanted to blow up large hurricanes with nuclear weapons prior to reaching shore is ridiculous. I never said this. Just more FAKE NEWS!, President Trump, via Twitter
