문 대통령 김대중 전 대통령 10주기 추모 "평화와 번영의 한반도 꼭 보여드리겠다"
Today marks ten years since the death of former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, an icon in the country's struggle for democracy.
Commemorating the late leader this morning, President Moon Jae-in promised to build peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula... with the help of the Korean people.
On social media, Moon praised Kim Dae-jung's "bold imagination," which he said gave the country hope.
Moon also noted the joint declaration signed with Japan during Kim's tenure, under which the two sides promised a new partnership for the 21st century.
Meanwhile, that declaration was also cited by the speaker of the National Assembly this morning, as he commemorated the late president.
Moon Hee-sang said South Korea will overcome the current situation with Japan.
