The energy minister says that the recent power outage across the UK was "completely unacceptable". Kwasi Kwarteng said that such large-scale blackouts are "very rare, once in a 10-year event". Industry experts said the power outage on Friday 9th August happened after the gas-fired power station at Little Barford, Bedfordshire failed and the Hornsea offshore wind farm disconnected from the grid within minutes of each other.
