Manila Water Corporate Communications head Jeric Sevilla Jr. said the company is now coordinating with some 100 families affected by the flooding due to a burst pipe along F. Roxas St., a street located at the boundary of Manila and Mandaluyong City. Some of the families complained that their belongings were rendered useless after being submerged in water that was mixed with sewage waste. "Kahapon iyung mga kasamahan sa Manila Water ay nagtungo sa lugar at humingi sila ng paumanhin sa insidente. Pangalawa, nagkaroon na tayo ng initial assessment at pakikipag-usap sa pamilyang naapektuhan," Sevilla told Umagang Kay Ganda. Sevilla said Manila Water will give proper compensation only after the affected families are able to provide proper documentations on the damage and the water concessionaire is able to verify them. Sevilla said repair works are currently ongoing. He said the pipe's old age may have caused it to burst. The cast iron pipes were made between the 1940s and 1950s, according to Sevilla. Water supply in the area remains normal as the affected pipe supplies water to at least 8 barangays in Makati. Water supply in the affected Makati barangays was restored immediately yesterday.
