한일 외교차관 광복절 후 제3국에서 회담
The vice foreign ministers of Seoul and Tokyo are set to meet soon after South Korea celebrates its Liberation Day this Thursday.
This is according to various Korean media outlets, but they did not cite sources.
They say the two diplomats will meet in a Southeast Asian country either on Friday or Saturday to discuss pending issues between their countries.
Seoul's vice minister Cho Sei-young is expected to urge Japan to pull back its unfair trade restrictions on Seoul, while Takeo Akiba of Japan is likely to urge South Korea to intervene against the Supreme Court's order that Japanese firms must compensate Korea's victims of forced labor.
However Seoul's foreign ministry says it cannot confirm the reports.
