The fourteen-hundredth weekly "Wednesday rally" near the Japanese embassy in South Korea will be held in Seoul in the coming hours,... a day before Korea's National Liberation Day.
The rally has been held every Wednesday for 27 years, calling on Japan to offer an official and sincere apology and pay appropriate compensation to the Korean victims of Japan's wartime sexual slavery.
The victims are commonly known as 'comfort women'.
This week's rally is being held under the theme of backing victims' voices and urging the Japanese government to hear their voices.
Rallies are scheduled in 34 cities in ten countries including the U.K., New Zealand, Philippines, Taiwan and Japan to show global solidarity.
