The global semiconductor industry is expected to contract this year, but the market for system chips is likely to see an increase in sales.
According to semiconductor market research company IC Insights, two out of three chip products including DRAM and Nandflash chips will see a fall in sales this year amid slowing demand.
But the other third of products, including system semiconductors, an area Samsung Electronics is investing heavily in, will see a growth in sales this year.
System semiconductors, also known as non-memory chips, are used to power self-driving cars and AI-enabled devices.
