Having had a superb 2019 ICC World Cup with the bat, Pakistan batsman Babar Azam continued his prolific form in the NatWest T20 Blast as he went on to score the highest score of his career in the shortest format. Babar scored 102 from 55 balls for Somerset in a dominant victory over Hampshire on Friday.
Babar, who is presently the No. 1 ranked T20 batsman in the world, lived up to his status to bag only his second T20 hundred. With the ton, he also reached a total of 425 runs in 8 innings in the tournament this season which sees him sit atop of the scoring charts. The next player in the list is Australia's D'Arcy Short who stands 99 runs behind the Pakistani batsman.
Before his ton against Hampshire, Babar's highest score was 95 at Taunton, although his heroics couldn't help Somerset win the contest. This time around, however, things were different as Babar came on to bat at No. 4 position as his hide had lost two early wickets and were struggling at 38/2. The Pak stalwart then dig deep and unleashed some fine shots to take his side's total to 202/4.
