U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently criticized China after meeting with his Chinese counterpart. According to Reuters, Pompeo spoke out against Chinese “coercion” of Southeast Asian neighbors. He referred to disputes over the South China Sea and its dam-building on the Mekong River. Pompeo said both countries want to improve ties with each other which have faced recent tensions. He listed trade, U.S. sanctions on Huawei, Taiwan and the South China Sea waterway among those issues.
