MANILA - The Commission on Elections is not inclined to extend the deadline for voters registration in the barangay and SK elections. Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said a deadline extension is highly unlikely since the poll body has to meet an August 31 deadline to finish preparations. He said the poll body needs to conduct election registration board hearings in a week's time, which will last for 2 to 3 weeks. He explained the Comelec needs to know the exact number of voters so it can start printing ballots and assign the precincts for the October 28th elections. ANC HEADSTART, JULY 31, 2013
