Bees are dying en masse in the Russian region of Tula, 200 km south of Moscow, because of the uncontrolled use of a pesticide containing a neurotoxin banned in the European Union. Russia's agriculture watchdog confirmed the bee deaths were caused by uncontrolled use of insecticides and acknowledged that their use is not being monitored closely.
