The Supreme Court has refused government to re-verify any wrongful inclusions in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) list. However, the apex court has decided to extend the deadline for finalising the list by a month. While the government has argued that there are lakhs of wrongful inclusions, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) asked the government why this plea for re-verification was not made earlier, reports Ashmit Kumar.
