Korea's health authorities have issued a nationwide alert over the risk of Japanese encephalitis.
The warning comes after the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found the virus carrying the disease in more than one thousand mosquitoes per day, or more than 70 percent of the mosquito samples it collected in Gyeongsangnam-do Province.
No cases of Japanese encephalitis have been reported so far this year.
Health authorities are advising people to get vaccinated, …and children under the age of 12 can get vaccinations for free at public health centers.
