문 대통령 "軍 기강 우려, 통수권자로서 책임 느낀다"

President Moon Jae-in says he feels responsible for concerns about a lack of discipline in the military,... and says he is responding sternly.
Those remarks today are believed to be in reference to recent incidents, including a North Korean boat entering South Korean waters without being detected.
Here he is speaking today at a Blue House luncheon with elders from the military reserves.
"Due to recent incidents, the people are worried about our military's discipline and readiness. As the commander-in-chief, I feel responsible, and I assure you that we are taking stern measures led by the defense minister and the Joint Chiefs of Staff."
On other military issues, the president stressed that the linchpin of lasting peace in the region is the South Korea-U.S. alliance.
That alliance will be even stronger the better South Korea can defend itself, and in that regard the government is pushing for the early transfer of wartime operational control from the U.S.
He also pledged to acquire cutting-edge surveillance and long-distance strike capabilities.
Also highlighting the historic meeting last month between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump at the DMZ,... President Moon vowed that South Korea will take a leading role in the three countries' efforts to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula.
