After media backlash over its depiction of a teenage girl committing suicide, 13 Reasons Why will now place this pre-show trigger warning before every episode on Netflix. In July 2019, Netflix also announced it would be editing out the scene where Hannah Baker, the protagonist, is shown committing suicide.
